Piano Music for You

A note from the composer

In a world that is moving along in a blink, I find that music is right here with us to help express that which cannot be put into words. Feedback shared by my generous listeners has validated this idea. Who amongst us does not come to the point of knowing that its the little, mundane moments in life that offer glimpses of beauty, grace and transformation. It is in this spirit that I write music for you and am not only humbled by composing music but tremendously honored by the small part my music might play in your life. Quite simply, it moves me to write more and continually strive to improve my art. In the well spoken words of Charolette in the beloved childrens' story by E.B. White:

"You have been my friend. That in itself is a tremendous thing. I wove my webs for you because I liked you. After all, what's a life, anyway? We're born, we live a little while, we die. A spider's life can't help being something of a mess, with all this trapping and eating flies. By helping you, perhaps I was trying to lift up my life a trifle. Heaven knows anyone's life can stand a little of that."

I am often asked who inspires me. Brad Mehldau's cover of Nick Drake's River Man really sends me, as does the work of many fine musicians, but mostly, I endeavor to be inspired by the delicious moments and fine people around me. If I am quiet and observant, I find there is music in my little world all of the time. My job becomes a simple one; as easy as picking a beautiful, ripe tomato from the vine. Remember, I love hearing from you and thank you for stopping by... Warmly, Donna Linton

Listeners Love Linton's Music

Your debut CD, The Driftwood Trip, is absolutely wonderful. I'm playing it here in my office as I go about my daily work. So relaxing and so beautiful! What a pianist you are! And your musical ideas are completely original! Right now I am drifting off to wonderful scenes from my childhood as I am listening to your CD.
- Mayron Cole, composer and developer of Mayron Cole Piano Method, leading class piano instruction in the U.S., www.mayroncole.com Your CD is outstanding! I am really enjoying it. You should sell thousands of copies!
- Terry Mikeska, piano entertainer, www.terrymikeska.com

Listening to Donna's new CD, The Driftwood Trip was a thoroughly enjoyable experience. Donna shares with us personal life experiences in the form of wonderful musical compositions. Driftwood far exceeds typical New Age fare with depth and personality. The addition of the violin, cello, and bass (not synthetic strings) adds a lovely icing to an already delicious cake, not to mention the background sounds of nature and childrens' voices which sparks the imagination to visualize the scenes being created by the music. The Driftwood Trip will take an honored position in my musical collection.
- Larry Ward, singer/songwriter

Driftwood is a wonderful blend of sounds from Southern flair to classic beauty. Mrs. Linton has a true talent for using her piano as a palette to paint beautiful pictures with music. A warm and inviting album for all ages to enjoy!
- Elena Kent, Youth Director, Angelo Civic Theater, singer, actress, www.angelocivictheatre.com

You must be so excited! All of the pieces are just beautiful! You have such a gift for a melodic line.
- Bill Reynolds, retired Broadway singer & actor

Kelly told me a lot about this project when she was working on it with you and piqued my interest. Having listened to the finished product numerous times now, I must say it is impressive. It's a rare thing to capture the mood of a memory in music as you have. The use of natural sounds enhances your music nicely.
- Ed Stabler, singer/guitarist

Linton's compositional style is rich in dynamic simplicity. It bubbles with the versatility of a very creative composer's style from beginning to end. More along the lines of piano character pieces than background music, the academic merit of this collection stands head and shoulders above many of its counterparts on the shelves.
- Valerie Tedford Queen, M.M. (Music Theory and Composition), B.A. (Music)
